MY SIMON SHOPPING EXPERIENCES, BY FASHION BLOGGER NAOMI ISTED
In the fast-moving world of fashion, catwalk models and the latest magazines are no longer the only place to look for shopping inspiration. For 2018 and beyond, the new stars providing ultimate ‘What to wear’ inspiration are the social media influencers who share hot tips on their blogs and Instagram pages, making it easier than ever to find the latest looks and trends.
Simon Shopping Destinations caught up with style queen and lifestyle blogger Naomi Isted (or @naomikisted to her 80,300 followers), who visited a number of properties earlier this year. In true professional form, she advises on the brands you need to know about, as well as the picture-perfect spots to stop off while on your west coast fashionista journey.
I’ve recently returned from California and everyone knows that a trip to the States has to include an obligatory shopping experience. Therefore, on my flight to LA I planned to visit five different Simon Shopping Destinations – including two fabulous outlets with amazing discounts.
The five properties I chose were all on the west coast and, I promise, they were so incredibly different I couldn’t believe it! Not only did they have different selections of shops and restaurants but the overall layout and experience in each location was truly unique. Mid-way through my road trip we even took a break from shopping to stop at the iconic Hollywood sign for a selfie – that’s also a must!
The first thought I had when I arrived at Desert Hills Premium Outlets®, which is just 20 minutes from Palm Springs, was: ‘Wow, what an awesome setting to shop in’. We stopped for plenty of Instagram pictures en route as the property’s backdrop and surroundings are just picture-perfect!
Desert Hills Premium Outlets is an open air destination surrounded by majestic mountains. For a Brit like me, this is truly a unique shopping experience! Personally one of my favourite shoe stores is Jimmy Choo, and for winter coats there is Moncler, but since I was in Cali, I couldn’t resist all the amazing swimwear from Pacsun (which I’ve never seen here in the UK). We had lunch at Five Guys and then I explored Ralph Lauren for the kid’s clothes, but I couldn’t resist a trip to Dolce and Gabbana for some of this seasons’ compulsory leopard print!
Then there’s The Outlets at Orange, a Mills property with great outlet shopping but with a completely different feel than Desert Hills Premium Outlets. If you are travelling with kids, they will utterly love this place, with its bowling alley, cinema and everything to keep them entertained while you shop. Furthermore, the property is just a 10-minute drive to Disneyland Resort…
I cannot deny I spent most of my day in Bloomingdale’s, The Outlet Store as the deals and selection of different brands meant I barely needed to leave the store. Here you can find a host of big brand names such as Hollister Co., NIKE Factory Store and Nordstrom Rack. To complete the perfect day, we enjoyed fresh fish and salad, for a healthy lunch break sitting outside in the sunshine at Market Broiler – what more could you want! I highly recommend this as a shopping experience for the whole family.
Overall I loved my Simon Shopping Destinations experience and would definitely recommend a trip to one of these properties for anyone heading to the west coast to get ahead of the trends! Amazing brands, incredible prices and lots of Instagrammable experiences along the way – what else can a fashion blogger ask for?
